2006 Mercedes (Dodge) Sprinter - Camper Conversion. This is a DIY conversion so its got its quirks but its a great, low miles, van that is ready for any adventure. 5 CYL Diesel, I get about 21MPG Highway, even carrying gear Currently at 87,xxx miles, it has the popular ‘million mile sprinter’ drivetrain so there is lots and lots of life left, not even at 100k yet!!! Normal roof - I’m 5’8 and have to duck my head a little when I’m standing all the way up -Currently Registered in CA -RWD -Transmission and cooling system were both serviced back in 2020 (have records) ELECTRIC: *2x 100AH Deep Cycle AGM batteries *2x 100W Solar Panels *2000 Watt Inverter (so you can use normal wall plugs for phone, laptop, etc) *MPPT 40A Controller *40A DC- DC Charger (tops off your batteries while you drive) Have never had any issues with running out of power, have had fridge running 24/7 while on the road, have charged devices, used laptop, etc GALLEY: *Eureka Large Propane Stove, fits 2 12” Pans *Bodega 12V 59 quart Fridge/Freezer (have always had plenty of room for groceries) *Butcher Block countertop *Sink w/ running water - 7 gallon water setup OTHER: *Passenger seat swivels *Slide Out Desk *Bench w/ storage underneath *Apple CarPlay unit *Backup camera/Electronic Rearview Mirror/Dashcam *Maxxair fan *Privacy curtain that separates cab from rest of van *Rooftop deck *Partially insulated - roof, floor, rear walls below the bed have foam insulation. The rest of the van can be insulated if you like STORAGE: *I can fit 2 bikes (front wheel removed) underneath the bed with a bit of room to spare on the sides for packs, etc *Top cabinet in galley I use as a closet *Underneath the bench I keep a luggable loo, 50lb bag of rice and other various items *Underneath the passenger seat there is room for a couple pairs of shoes *Rooftop deck can double as gear storage THE QUIRKS/THE BAD: *Water pump can get a little funny at high elevations/parking at awkward angles, it likes to drip at the connection to the sink, I think this could be alleviated with a new connection to the sink *A/C is currently barely working, it hasn’t bothered my enough to fix it *A couple minor spots of rust, there was a bigger rust spot on the sliding door(bottom right corner) but that has been patched *When going over a big bump, sometimes it’ll cause a couple ABS lights to come on the dash. This is alleviated by restarting the van. I’ve done troubleshooting on this and it’s basically harmless and wasn’t worth the effort for me to fix.
