I have been living full time in this van since July 2022 when my last two kids left the house. The van’s name is Willow and she use to be owned by a couple from Washington who made and sold Kombucha out of it. A true hippie van. She also came with a box full of original papers, records and an old manual and her original keys. Since I bought her, I have taken out all the old carpet that covered the ceiling and the walls…old ugly carpet. She is home to me and I have to admit I am emotionally attached. I’ve sat in the front seat many of times in the evening relaxing…dreaming. There are parts of her I see as my front door where I kick off my shoes on the floor board and then Drop off my hat and coat on the back of the passenger seat on to my “ “coat and hat hanger”. She runs solid…I take her up north the camp at hotsprings. When I got her, I put in a new fuel pump and glow plugs and two new batteries with warranty. I also put in a new steering column and a lock on her gas tank. The previous owners rebuilt transmission. There is a mini composition book owned by the original owners that they wrote the miles they took and how much gas was plus their calculations in the mpg. To remember how cheap gas use to be. This vehicle has a lot of charm. As well as hidden little secrets…some I haven’t figured out yet. The Coca Cola box use to be my dad’s, it’s an antique and I drilled it into the wheel well to make a bookcase. Some things that I love about her are the wooden floors and ceiling. The windows and the outside blue pin stripes with an array of bumper stickers reminding me of all the places she has been. I had planned on doing more upgrades inside, like a water pump for the sink. She is pretty cool in the summer with the windows in the front and back there is a nice cross breeze. I love her key chain that came from the original owners. A wooden redwood with pearl inlay and a silver pine cone. I will be taking my personal belongings to include my linens and curtains. I have to let her go because I am moving back into a home again. We had many adventures to the Hotsprings camping and stealth camping in neighborhoods.
