Seller's Description

For sale is my 1987 Volkswagen Westfalia. I have been doing full time van life in this van for about a year now and it comes with everything that you could need to do the same. It’s just under 164,xxx miles and is ready to do many more. I’ve absolutely loved this van and it constantly gets compliments. General: - No Accident history. - Title is clean, registration is up to date. It's ready for van life or just to go camping. Mechanical Details: - 2.1 Engine, 4 Speed Manual Transmission - 164k Miles - I put 20k miles on it over the last 2.5 years. - Used 20W-50 Castrol Oil and MANN Filters. I have been diligent to change and check the oil and coolant. - Premium (91) gas used. - Previous owner had Buslab in Berkeley performed the major work needed that is safety concern on Westys. Replaced brake pads, brake lines, fuel lines, resealed the gas tank, replaced water pump, spark plugs & belts. - New clutch @ 144,000 - New CV joints @ 146,000 - New power steering pump @ 146,000 - New starter @ 153,000 - Fixed windshield wipers and headlights @ 153,000 - Rebuilt Shift Linkage @ 158,000 - Full brake job, new master cyclinder, and more @ 159,800. This was about $5k worth of work done to prevent any potential issues as well. - Replaced rear heater core and valve, flushed coolant @ 163,000 Body / Exterior: - Renogy 100 watt solar panel mounted to luggage rack. Mounted on hinges to rotate forward or backward to catch more sunlight. - Rocky Mountain Westy Tire Carrier for spare tire. - Rocky Mountain Westy Ladder. To grab your surf boards! - Truck Mirrors (much bigger and sturdier so they don’t flop around in the wind) - Innotech Locking Surf Rack - 2.5 inch hitch receiver - 2 bike Yakima locking rack on hitch. - Yakima Feet and CrossBars. - Thule Cargo Box that locks. - T3 Technique HD End Links - T3 Technique HD Anti-Roll Bar. This and the End Links are for better control in the wind. - 16" GoWesty Wheels (5) - General Grabber AT2 Tires (5) - GoWesty 1.5" Spring lift kit - Bilsten XHD Shocks - GoWesty Extra Loud Horn - Hi-Lift Jack mounts on Front Bumper - Noise cancelling material added to all doors and behind the kitchen. - LED headlights. - GoWesty Seals on PopTop / Cargo Carrier - Wire Mesh in carrier drain Plugs to keep debris out - Herculiner Bottom & Fenders of van - New pop top and luggage carrier seals. - New brackets on luggage carrier. Interior: - 100AH AGM auxiliary battery. Paired with GoWesty AUX battery kit installed under the driver seat to be charged when driving. This runs the volt meter / USB hookups (replaced the cig lighter), fridge, lights, stereo and inverter. This is hooked up to receive a charge from the solar panel on roof as well. - Renogy 1000 watt pure sine wave inverter - Renogy 10A Voyager charge controller - Pioneer Stereo Head Unit. All new speakers too. - TF49 Truck Fridge - replaced the old propane fridge. - New Water Tank pump, all new water lines to the sink installed from GoWesty. Cleaned water tank when this was done. - 2 burner stove. Removed the original tank under the vehicle. Stove runs off a gas line to a camping propane bottle routed under the sink. No need to get out of the car on a cold morning to turn the gas on. One of my favorite improvements & safer IMO (I remove the bottle when its not in use). - Double foam mattress topper (2 layers, nice and comfy. Remove 1 if you want it stiffer). - Wood Panel Flooring - LED internal lights (speedometer, overhead + rear kitchen light) - Removed the A/C Plenum (plastic routing) for more head space and direct air from rear vents. A/C. - Replaced all the plastic curtain holders w/ GoWesty ones. - New seal on the sunlight of pop top - GoWesty Window Kit - Keeps the temperature of the car controlled while camping. Full window set included. A must for hot days and colder nights. - Insulation added. - 2 USB plugs + Voltmeter in the cig lighter location. - GoWesty Black Door Panels (Driver & Passenger). - Cargo net on back seat bench, great for holding shoes. - I can include a bunch of small things that I’ve added since living in it like magnet hooks and lights, hanging storage racks, and 2 ottomans for extra seating / storage. - There are some extra maintenance pieces under the back seat such as extra windshield wipers, oil, etc. Issues: - It does have some rust spots as they all do. The most noticeable spot is on the driver side above the rear wheel. The previous owner treated the inside of the van to help prevent it from spreading. - There’s a minor dent in the rear driver side panel from someone bumping the van when it was parked. - The new brakes are a little squeaky, I think that will go away as they continue to break in. - The tinting on the sliding door is peeling off a bit.
