Seller's Description

This is a self-built camper van. In its previous life this was a carpet truck. Most of its dents, dings, torn seats, etc (things I refer to as “features”) are from that previous life. I am not trying to hide anything and will fully disclose anything that I know is wrong with the van. The fact that I am doing this is reflected in the price; I am not selling a state of the art, high-end, professional-build camper van. IF that is what you are looking for, move on. If, however, you are looking for an affordable functional camper van, please continue. I built the interior of this van myself. I am not a master craftsman, but have some skill with power tools and it was really quite the fun project. Equipment specs are listed below. The bed is full-size width and queen size length (I am 5’11” and my partner is 5’2” and although cozy, we do not feel crowded). There is plenty of storage in this van, both in the “garage” and the cabin. It’s fully insulated and has a diesel heater. There is a 12v house battery system that is charged by solar but can also be plugged into any normal 120v house outlet. I intentionally isolated the running battery from the house battery to avoid inadvertently draining the running battery and not being able to start the van when needed. There is a refrigerator, roof vent, sink w/cold running water (I use two 7 gallon water jugs for white and grey water), and passenger side captain’s chair. All windows have insulated reflective shades. There is no stove inside the van; I use a 2-burner propane stove and cook outside most of the time. However, there is sufficient counter space to set up the stove inside in inclement weather. There is a 10’ 6” Fiamma awning, which has served as great sun and rain protection (although manufacture says not to use it in the rain). As a side note, this van has taken me on many adventures; the White Mountains of New Hampshire; the Adirondacks, more than once; the New River and the Red River Gorges, on multiple occasions; and I can’t count the times we’ve gone to Seneca to climb. Through it all, the van has kept us comfortable, warm when it was cold (the heater is clutch) and coolish when it was hot (it’s nice to have a fan). Vehicle: 2008 Dodge Sprinter 2500. It is a diesel and I have never had an issue with it breaking down. The only feature I know of is with the drive train,a periodic shudder that occurs when hard accelerating or going up steep hills. The van has had this shudder since I bought it, I don’t know what it is, and it has never caused me any problems. As mentioned above, there are some minor dents and dings and surface rust (I mean its 15 years old). Since I’ve owned this van I have completed all maintenance and repaired everything found by the diesel mechanic when it was in for oil changes. I recently had the van inspected. There are several items that the mechanic recommended for near-term replacement: front and rear stabilizers/links/shocks/struts, EGR valve, glow plugs, brake/differential/power steering fluid and front end alignment. Given these near-term repairs I have reduced the asking price. House electric system: • 340 W Solar panel • Morningstar ProStar MPPT solar charge controller • Magnum MMS 1500W Inverter/Charger • Fuse box and DC fuses • 2x 6V 220 Ah wet cell batteries, wired in series for 12v system Heater: Eberspacher Diesel Air Heater Refrigerator: ARB Fridge/Freezer Awning: Fiamma 10’ 6” Roof Vent: Fan-Tastic Vent
