Functional storage keeps everything organized and accessible. Large garage under bed for bikes and gear is accessible from the back doors or from inside the van. The removable over-sized queen bed sleeps two and has side wall bump-outs for sleeping sideways, allowing increased usable space in the galley. Stowaway overhead hanging shower requires little space, but still offers the privacy of an indoor shower. Heated water keeps showers comfortable. L-Track single stud anchor points on the ceiling add various hanging options for gear. Cabinetry is hand-made with Baltic Birch and surfaced with high-pressure impact-resistant laminate. Two rooftop fans automatically open to draw ambient air in and out and a gasoline-powered heater under passenger seat for cold weather camping. The power system consists of a 300 Ah lithium-ion battery bank. Batteries are recharged by 200 watts of rooftop solar and a 30-amp smart alternator charger. A shore power connection is also available. Smart 3000-watt inverter/charger provides all AC power needs. LED lighting throughout, including recessed ceiling lights, under cabinet lights, and under bed lighting, and auto rear cabinet lights. Kitchen includes an induction stovetop, large basin sink, and 12v Isotherm refrigerator/freezer. A 20-gallon water tank paired with a 4-gallon water heater provides water for the sink and shower hose. A flushable cassette toilet is tucked away in a slider drawer. Grey water tank has an auto-draining valve switch. The Sprinter’s gas engine combined with its’ 9-speed transmission has plenty of power to push a fully loaded van up and down mountain roads with ease. The gas engine has faster acceleration, heats up faster in the winter, and is quieter at idle. It also has less maintenance costs and averages almost 20 mpg. The finished weight of the van gives the tires great traction in winter driving conditions.
