My beautiful Van “Autonomous” is ready for a new happy owner to enjoy the uniqueness of vanlife done right. Bought new and customized with intention, deep thought and building skill, I purposely used lightweight materials where possible. Heavy is slow, unneeded and costly...many design cues taken from the marine world. This fully functional off the grid home on wheels will make you step outside when it’s all lit nicely at night and wonder at its stealthiness, no one knowing that a high tech apartment with so many homey amenities and unbelievable coziness exists inside…the next day it can open up like an airy cabin, cooking breakfast with the slider open….Heaven! Autonomous is a machine that loves to travel and drives really nicely...fuel economy is acceptable, 6 speed automatic transmission with ability to manually choose gears is essential.. many of my miles are highway…and the front wheel drive is awesome especially in snow. The cockpit is very comfortable and roomy with bench seats that beat any other vehicle I have for long distances …very modern and clean instrument panels, folding heated mirrors, AC, and an entertainment package , with cruise control, add to the full driving experience, almost forgetting that a full functional house is right behind you…which brings me to “The living quarters”. The entire rear of the van is independently powered by a 1500 watt lithium battery which charges three ways and acts like the brain of the whole operation. It is the most simple way to engineer power to your life. Very pleased with the system. Charging is accomplished by the installed Solar panel, by driving, and optional plugging into shore power. I’m a lighting person and it shows in the living area, cabin is powered throughout, usb x 8, installed lamps, and colored led lights with a remote ..you bet! The amenities are extensive….Everything is included to use as a full time home, or an adventure outing vehicle, or a really awesome place to just put on your ski boots ….The sleeping system is similar to racing sailboats…it is a very deluxe , super comfortable fold down for one, adjustable and fast for when things aren’t perfectly level. It’s warm, never been cold from below, with an exped mega mat 10 mattress with pump bag…you can sleep with your head at either end,..a look out the sunroof can be a wonderful and protected window to the world…and the most comfortable nights sleep can be achieved..over and over. I guarantee that :-) Second sleeper is below with included air mattress, it’s fun and I’ve done it many times… this is a palace for one , and doable for two. Which is also the current amount of seatbelts, so that works. Having the bed fold up quickly and cleanly, gives the van it’s livability..preserving the walk of the entire length of the van was a really nice choice that I am so glad I stuck with when designing…like to walk when you talk on the phone..have at it! Vans that cramp you into one small area are my pet peeve…I use the back door just like a house door..not even needing to exit/enter the front doors very often. When you pull up at night somewhere, having the living area immediately accessible behind you is important ..you can disappear to the living quarters without leaving the van which is very safe! In general this is the safest and most stealthy build style you can do for traveling and sleeping safely in all the amazing places you will find. The privacy is extreme when wanted and when not needed ..the living area flows with openness! Best of both words in my opinion. This Promaster van runs beautifully, recent 100,000 mile service, new spark plugs..full tune up, brake flush, new oil and filter, and the oil pump came up on a minor code so I replaced it. New windshield also just installed. Tires have life left and won’t break the bank when you need new ones if you stay with current setup. All the emblems are blacked out on the exterior of the van…oh so cool…adding to the stealth build characteristics and looks. The inside storage is abundant, kitchen, gear, wardrobe , bring it on, Autonomous can handle it! The rooftop storage is immense with dual weatherproof, lockable boxes on the van tech roof rack system. All top accessories are accessed from a telescopic ladder stored inside in a hidden padded and powered compartment. Allows for full roof cleaning and solar panel clearing also. A security system with audio monitoring capabilities is included. A removable, vent-able, sunroof is installed , the natural light and different degrees of ventilation is a perfect combination year round. The powered antenna smart hd TV is mounted out of the way and is adjustable allowing freedom to watch in bed or while cooking or wherever you find yourself. A Helinox sunset chair is your comfort lounger, it fits perfectly and secures in seconds for traveling …also a padded bench seat for two doubles as a workbench.. a stool near the kitchen (included) comes in handy…think entertaining! High def TV reception for free with a channel scan..and a smart blu-ray player…Netflix etc. …movie time’ is yours!…HDMI in cable installed means you can play your phone or tablets content on the screen . Also has stereo speakers installed…no one needs to know your not really roughing it! Especially your friends out in their tents lol. Two Low wattage fans included to cool you down, sleeping with one on is nice..A dependable propane heater to keep you warm, I lived through some good Tahoe West Shore winters happily. No holes were ever drilled in the roof. This van is Meticulously cared for and loved, it has lots of life experiences and miles ahead. The aftermarket wheels and Yokohama tires add so much in performance and appearance…this van is a head turner…new owner should be prepared to be approached by many in parking lots and gassing up, it’s a conversation piece, many have said it would be their dream to own! The positive compliments on the build have been humbly enjoyed by me for the last 4 years. The complete usability of everything and proven reliability of the systems , including a no freeze option for the water , have impressed me. I drive my vehicles to make them last, never abuse, oil change every 5k.
