Transparent and candid communication with nothing concealed. ==== DETAILS ==== —THE TRUCK— I’m the second owner of the truck and this thing has been like a child to me! It has been routinely serviced, cared for and driven intelligently. As such it has remained an absolute beast on and off-road. I’ve lived out of it for months often on BLM land or deep in the mountains and never once worried about breaking down or running into problems. Modifications: As you can see from the photos it has been partially raptor-ized with an aftermarket grill, bumpers and wheel mounts. It has a Roush aftermarket exhaust which gives it a delightful purr and a few additional horsepower (not that it needs it). I’ve chosen not to change the tires to maintain its fairly impressive gas mileage for a 2012 truck. The truck does have some rust commensurate with most 10 yr-old trucks, but mechanics I’ve spoken with see no immediate issue with it. Eventually the rocker panels may need to be replaced, as in many older trucks, but it’s not a pressing issue. The radio does not work and I removed the fuses on the center console. This is a fairly common problem with this model and can be sorted out at a Ford dealership or with a DIY method that I have not tried (one might try a search on youtube…) I personally just use a bluetooth speaker that can be brought to the back as well and have no problems with it. Carfax will be provided to prospective buyers. The vehicle history indicates an accident in the charge of the last owner, but it seems to have been minor as I’ve done a few thousand miles of highway driving with it and never noticed any wobble. One of the biggest reasons to go for a Ford for your van life is its popularity. As Ford likes to remind us, the F150 is the best-selling truck in America. This means that there is a robust second hand market of parts. Additionally, unlike some of the newer F150 ecoboost engines, almost every mechanic in the states knows how to work on this classic 8-cylinder engine. Bed 4WD Drive type: Flex Fuel Engine: 5.0L V8 Transmission: 6-speed automatic Driveline: 4WD Seating: 6 MPG: 14-15 city, 19-21 highway (I was getting an average combined of about 18.8 last summer when I was using it in both a city and on highways) Tank: 36 gal Range in miles (cty/hwy): 504/684 miles Max towing: 11,100lb Max payload: 1,570lb Horsepower: 360 hp @ 5,500 rpm — SIZE — I chose the Leer 122 cap and this design to accommodate a fairly large 6’1” frame and I can eat, work and sleep comfortably in the back with no issues. It’s a roomy build and I’ve spent time with friends/girlfriend living out of the truck for extended periods of time with no issues. The bed is designed to maximize storage with: ++ Two storage cabinets on the sides for clothes, personal items etc. ++ One long storage cabinet with a divider for longer items such as chairs, tents, poles etc. ++ Two smaller cabinets at the front with access from top or side for items like wet shoes/clothes/gear etc. ++ A middle aisle for suitcases, backpacks etc. In the second row of the truck I kept water tanks, a cooler, cooking gear and an electrical system. With the seats folded up there is room for multiple coolers/storage boxes. For electricity I used a portable electrical system similar to a Jackery/Goal Zero that could be charged from the car, campground or solar. If I was keeping the truck I’d put permanent solar panels on a roof mount the top of the truck cab and get a low-draw dometic fridge inside the truck. —BUILD QUALITY— I've worked in construction and in refurbishing wooden dwellings and the truck bed was built alongside a friend who has experience building a van. We put attention to detail and craftsmanship at a premium in the whole process. It’s built with cabinet-grade maple that is hardy, smooth and non-toxic. The difference in finish/quality compared to low-grade plywood is palpable. The wood is joined with a Kreg pocket-hole system which means extra stability at a 45* angle of insertion compared to normal wood screws and the whole thing is SOLID. No annoying rattling sounds. The storage cabinets are affixed with rear-mounted door hinges drilled through the wood to the other side for stability and longevity. The cap has been fully waterproofed (unlike many others out there) and is outfitted with heat repellent black-out curtains for heat and for privacy. The back window is tinted and it’s almost impossible to see inside unless you are right up against the window. The cap has windows with screens that slide open to provide heat relief for warm nights. On cold nights it is surprisingly warm as the heat is trapped well when the windows are closed. I’ve stayed in it with a normal sleeping bag from 20*F - 85*F with no issue. The paint on the cap is peeling and it could use a new paint job but other than that it’s in great shape. —INTEGRITY— I take my responsibility as a seller (and principled person) seriously.
