Meet Tortuga, our van-home for 2 seasons. This van is set up for camping trips or rustic travels. It works great for sleeping in at campgrounds, for dirtbag climbers in Joshua Tree or surfing down in Baja. It’s a really basic setup that maximizes gear storage, but this can be your canvas to make your super-stealth dream van. Or of course you could just use the shelves and repair air conditioning units with it. We’re selling because we found that 6” of standing clearance is only true in the very middle, and that’s a dealbreaker. It would be best for either 1 person, or for 2 people on shorter trips. Functionally everything works great - the AC, all instruments, cab lights, backup cam, exterior lights, radio and 12V outlets plus always passes smog. The van has a little grumble when maxing out uphill - hard to notice but we’ve lowered the price accordingly. The flaws: Touchy sensor for the sliding door - It’s been replaced 3 times by us and just seems to wiggle loose. The display panel shows “side door open” but it locks just fine and we disconnected the cargo lights so it doesn’t drain the battery. The cargo flooring - we removed it to squeeze out a little more standing room, not pretty but it will be easy to start your custom insulation and paneling. Some scratches in paint will need touched up, mainly from campground pinecones and branches (See photos). The only dent is from the previous owner, above the back doors.
