Seller's Description

This very rare 18ft Fiberglass Motorhome was built onto a very common 1972 Dodge B-300 Sportsman Van chassis.  You get a classic unique camper without the trouble of hard to find parts.   You can drive it around town/park it easily and still have the motorhome conveniences. The van chassis and the engine are very common, it's the fiberglass camper unit that makes this special. Between 1968-74 a boat builder called Jensen Marine made about 800 of these Balboa Motorhomes in Costa Mesa, CA.  There is said to be about 50 left today. They were cousins to the Chinooks.  The 2 large windows and open floor plan make this the largest feeling mini motorhome ever built.  There is a lot to mention on this, so please read if you're serious.  I’m doing my best to explain.   It comes with many service records, manuals, and paperwork from over the years and remains near to its original condition for you to enjoy.  It's a collector's edition if you ask me. It's a vintage motorhome, and in my opinion the best model ever made. This particular van came out of a barn in Minnesota and I had it shipped here to refurbish it. I own and rebuild these particular campers. You can see some of them on @freedomvessel or @balboamotorhomes Instagram, FreedomVessel YouTube or www.freedomvessel.com. The Van The camper sits on a 1972 Dodge B300 Sportsman chassis. It runs good Odometer 88,200 miles New rebuilt 727 3-speed transmission Transmission Fluid flushed and new gasket with new transmission New spark plugs, tune up, oil change, new front suspension, new rear shocks Tires have good tread, but need inspection prior to long road trip. Bluetooth hands-free stereo Cruise control and factory AC (not sure if either is working efficiently) Power steering, power brakes Doors and windows and lights work Second gas tank is installed, needs simple fuel hose connection and I recommend an inspection of auxiliary tank before you use it. Fuel gauge only works on occasion, but with the auxiliary tank you can have reserve gas on board New starter The Camper 18ft Balboa Motorhome all fiberglass shell fully contained motorhome.   2 Large slider windows on each side make you feel outside, blinds for privacy / screens Upper bunk area could be used for storage (cabinet face frame was built) or could be set up for child sleeping zone 6ft wide 4 ft wide (but would need a cushion up there for sleeping) Dinette with folding table becomes a double bed (45x80) Long couch seat is also a pullout bed (74x32) which is great if you want to sleep more people or leave the dinette setup Refrigerator is a 3 way fridge, and works on propane Stove and oven works on propane Propane tank 8gal is on rear, there is no spare tire Propane cabin heater with thermostat works on propane when you camp All manuals for everything are included Hot water heater 7 gallon works on 110V when you are plugged in, or it heats the water when you drive from the engine Auxiliary battery charges when you drive or are plugged in.  Outlets all work when you are plugged in. There are three complete and separate electrical systems. 12v DC with fuse panel for the van, 12DC for camper operation, and complete 110v AC system with circuit breaker and fuse panel. Duel purpose converter, battery charger, 3 electrical outlets, 25’ direct connect power cord, heavy duty 55 amp alternator, 2 batteries - deep cycle marine battery 100w Renogy solar panel and 30amp Renogy controller keep battery marine battery charged Interior lights work…..everything pretty much works, this thing is sweet! Bathroom - toilet, shower, sink, and vent in bathroom at rear, all drain into new 40 gallon tank underneath that can be drained like a normal motorhome at camp facility New flooring 42 gallon fresh water tank storage tank and water pump Upper storage and rear storage cabinets/drawers New Rooftop vent fan which lets in lights and blows fresh air Upolstery is brand new.  Durable waxed canvas similar to Sunbrella  I’m sure there is more to mention but pretty much this is a unicorn and a dream van! It is more of a vintage van and “original condition” rather than “renovated” If you are interested in owning this van, please understand it is 50 yrs old. It will not drive like a new Prius, I am not selling a dream, I’m selling a vintage van. It requires care and attention. You will reap the rewards if you maintain this vehicle. You will love it and enjoy many good times with it and & everyone will smile. Be ready to talk to people, smile a lot, and accept admiration and interests in you van. Also be ready to maintain, upkeep and invest in this camper van. I am doing my best to describe everything and to be as open and honest as possible. I want to sell it to someone who will appreciate it. I know a lot about these campers, I know most of the owners of these particular vehicles, and I know how rare of an opportunity it is to own one. I’m happy to offer my knowledge and honesty with you. We also have a small Facebook group and community of owners that can all offer insight. If you are shipping this van here are the specs: Overall Length: 18’ Height: 8’6” Overall Width 7’5” GVW: +/- 6500 lbs Located in Encinitas, CA 92007 The vehicle is sold "as is" with no warranty written, expressed or implied.  I'm doing my best to answer questions, be honest, and express my excitement for this unique camper.  Some of my comments are “opinions”
