Imagine if an architect walked into a van with an electrical engineer and said “Let’s do this!” I call this Ram Promaster 159in Extended “Frank the Van” and he’s full of one-of-a-kind architectural details inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright, full off-grid/all-season capability, and top notch amenities. The short and sweet: I built the van around stealth city living, but suspension upgrades + thoughtful system design allow for complete off-grid style too. 510 amp hours of lithium battery, 3 modes of charging, and enough water for a month before fill up make maintenance easy. A front + rear suspension upgrade + plenty of exterior storage makes overlanding as fun as city living. Electrical • Three Renogy 170ah batteries create 510 amp hours of lithium power. • Recharge the system via a 320 watt REC solar panel, Renogy 40 amp DC-DC charger (while driving), or shore power. • Renogy 3000 watt pure sine wave inverter powers household appliances/things that plug in. • 12 LED puck lights in the ceiling on three zones, two Philips Hue LED light bars under the cabinet, and a stained-glass window night light make the van bright and airy at night. • Unique 6V step down and 14V step up converters enable always-on internet, Blink security system, remote temperature monitoring, Amazon Alexa, and more. • Blue Sea components and marine-grade wiring throughout. Climate Control • Espar B4 heater taps directly into the gas tank (no fussing with propane or even filling a separate heater tank). • TWO MaxAir Deluxe fans w/ remotes (allows you to set one on intake, the other on exhaust creating a great cross-breeze). • Radiant floor heat pre-installed + ready for wiring. • Vanmade Gear Insulated window covers magnetically attach to all windows (incl. in cab). • A Caframo Sirroco II fan directly above the couch/bed. • CRL T-Vent windows and cab window guards allow three more ventilation points for airflow. • Promaster includes the rear AC prep package. Completing the installation at your dealer allows you to route the vehicle’s AC to rear vents while driving. You can only do this if the prep package is preinstalled! Water • 30 gallon fresh water tank inside the van (prevents winter freezing). • 7 gallon gray water tank inside van drains with a remote switch. • 4 gallon Bosch water heater. • 2.5 gallon Berkey Water Filter w/ a custom stand included. • Interior showers are accomplished using an expandable shower pan. An exterior shower is built into the rear of the van. Here are a few design elements that take the rig to the next level: • All the controls are at the bed; don’t get up to turn on the heat, lights, inverter, etc. • Don’t wake up in a cave; the front insulated curtain (separating the cab) is on a remote switch. Press a button by bed and let the morning light in without getting up to take down all the window shades. • Dog-owner designed w/ cameras, temperature monitoring, and a robust security system. Leather cushions make cleaning a breeze. • Electronics exist in floating shelves above cubby holes, opening tons of bench storage accessible without leaving the van to go to the back. • Custom insulated fabric backers replace rigid wood backs of the upper cabinets, making them bigger on the inside without building bulkier units. • Great care taken to push the walls into the metal frame of the van, maximizing every inch. Solid wood ceilings (in lieu of slats), flat faced cabinets, and matching the widths of counters to the bench are other visual tricks that make this van seem spacious and airy. • Purposefully beginning with a black colored van meant the tinted windows blend into the paint; people on the outside don’t realize the windows are there for added privacy. *Will deliver to you anywhere in US/Canada w/ deposit.*
