Full mechanical records in a spreadsheet, but here are some highlights: • Dr. A's RSN fix on the transmission (google it if unfamiliar with this common sprinter problem) - transmission is smooth as butter • All fluids regularly changed including oil (214k), transmission (215k), coolant (215k) differential (172k, still looks new), brake (170k, due for new fluid) • New battery, new turbo about 10k ago, new oil cooler • Tires (nice michelen defenders) have plenty of tread left, two from 183k, two from 190k • Crankshaft pulley, tensioner, belt, water pump (196k) • Brakes – I went to change at around 205k (bought new pads) but existing pads still had plenty of life, so new pads will be included for when needed • Bodywork is not perfect, but is fully functional. I have repainted the hood and the side roof above the dripline which were starting to rust. All roof seams were well-sealed with dicor when we got the van and although a little dirty, seams still look good. There are a couple of minor miscellaneous scratches but nothing crazy. Being an older vehicle, there are a couple items to note – the abs module went bad right around the time we purchased the vehicle. Basically this means the van does not have functioning abs, but with its weight and my driving style (slow), this has never been a problem. If you do want it fixed, the local shop here quoted me just shy of $1000 to replace the faulty module. The rear main seal does have a slow leak to it (oil), however emphasis on slow – definitely not enough to register on the dipstic throughout an oil change interval. Also, in talking to my local sprinter/Mercedes mechanic, he said its very common on Mercedes in general, does not pose a concern and recommended against fixing it.
