Seller's Description
I came across a very interesting 1990 Volkswagen T3 Atlantic Syncro 4x4 currently for sale in Europe and thought it might interest people here who are into Vanagons, Syncros, and rare VW collector vehicles. For those unfamiliar, the T3 Syncro** is the factory AWD version of the Vanagon/T3 and is known for being one of the most capable vans Volkswagen produced. With front and rear differential locks, they are extremely capable off road and very popular for overland builds and collectors. This particular van is something quite special. It’s an original VW Bus T3 Atlantic Syncro finished in cherry red with a pop-up roof, and according to the seller **fewer than 50 Atlantic Syncro models were produced worldwide, making it a very rare collector vehicle. I’m based in the UK and run a small project sourcing unique vehicles called: https://www.retroridesandrelics.com/ I’ve already helped send three vehicles to North America, so this would potentially be the fourth vehicle I’d be exporting there. If someone here is interested, I could travel within Europe to inspect or purchase the van, organise export paperwork, and arrange shipping from Germany to any North American port. For this one I’d only be looking to make $500 profit after expenses for coordinating the deal and export. Vehicle overview: 1990 Volkswagen T3 Atlantic Syncro Mileage: 223,750 km (approx. 139,000 miles) Engine: 1.6L Turbo Diesel producing 69 hp (51 kW) Transmission: Manual Fuel: Diesel First registration: November 1990 Condition: Used vehicle Inspection (TÜV): valid until March 2028 Key details from the seller: • German market vehicle • 1 owner from new • Original paint except sliding doors • VW service book maintained • Complete history available (TÜV reports, invoices, etc.) • Original new-car purchase invoice included Factory equipment and options include: • Syncro AWD system • Front and rear differential locks • Fixed trailer hitch (AHK) • Luggage tray / roof rack • Fog lights • Permanent underbody protection Mechanical notes: • VW replacement engine installed in 2011 • Turbocharger, injectors, and catalytic converter replaced at the same time • Approximately 80,000 km on the replacement engine • Recently completed major service including timing belt • All fluids renewed • 4 new brand tyres • 2 new batteries • Underside dry-ice blasted and preserved The Syncro has reportedly been part of a private collection for the past 12 years and has appeared at various exhibitions, which explains the collector condition. The van is described as ready to drive, and TÜV/AU along with certification for German historic registration (H-plate) can be completed before handover if requested. If someone here is seriously interested, I can help organise inspection, purchase, export paperwork, transport, and shipping to North America. Typical ports include Jacksonville, Savannah, Baltimore, Houston, Los Angeles, or Vancouver, but shipping can be arranged to most ports. If this particular van isn’t the right one, I can also source other Syncro vans or interesting European camper vans, depending on what someone is looking for. If anyone here is interested in European Syncros, diesel vans, or rare VW collectors, feel free to message me. More information about what I do can be found here: https://www.retroridesandrelics.com/
