Stealth, Heavy Duty Insulation and Battery Bank

I’m willing to work with buyers on most things. I want whoever buys this to love it like I did. The goal was to make the safest and stealthiest campervan possible. I built it for myself over a year and used the best of the best for everything. I’ve upgraded to a class B and lots of times I really miss the ease of parking, heavy insulation and stealthiness of this van. This van is basically a blank canvas that someone can finish out further. The electrical system is a beast, but not hooked up. It has a click together standard floor over a vapor barrier, styrofoam lovingly cut to fit between the ribs of the floor. Then 1/4” layer of felt, 1/2” layer of felt and finally with 1/2” cork. There’s so much to getting the ideas and fitting them into here. A lot was trial and error to get the right layout and I was shooting for as open a floor plan as possible. Mainly I had bags that hung from the wall all over and could be stored away to make it less crowded or for ease of leaving the van. It was owned by a company that put a very nice partition and metal rails twice around the back. It’s heavily insulated with up to 3” of high end styrofoam on the walls, the entire thing was sealed with a vapor barrier using thick plastic and silicone. Countless hours stuffing pieces of styrofoam into the ribs and every other spot that needed insulation. It has a layer of 1/2” cork for sound proofing, 1/4” felt and another 3/4” felt layer both for sound. Not only to keep it quiet in there, but if you’re watching tv and trying to stealthily be on a street it’s nice to have no one know you’re in there. All of it is held up with no adhesive or glue, besides a few spots of duct tape, by 1/2” Maple plywood. Usually there would be multiple cans of spray adhesive to hold everything up which in the sun would heat up and create fumes. The metal rails allowed it to stay until the plywood held it all in place. There’s no other vehicle insulated like this. The vent fans: One is open so you can have some sunlight come through and the other is a rain guard one so you can have something open in the rain. You can have one go in and one out to get some serious airflow. The insulation will really keep it cool well into the day though. The partition is great because the back is completely locked and a separate place for police reasons and burglar reasons. I had a cop try to get in the back, later told me he had to check if everyone was ok inside, and they couldn’t. Even with using a slim Jim on the front doors and hitting unlock, the back wouldn’t open. That back two doors have a padlock and the side door has the electronic lock disabled. There are cages on the back windows with some $10 limo tint snuck behind it. Easy or worth actually tinting it professionally. When you have your whole life in there you want to know it’s not gonna be easy to get in there. And for personal safety, too. It’s a great peace of mind. Having the partition and keeping some reasonable stuff up front will really trick anyone that thinks someone is in there. The wheel wells are covered with felt twice over and gorilla taped down. They could be covered easily to look nicer. The bed was made to slide in like a couch or pull out to a full size bed. You could sleep two people there if you wanted. The mattress is really nice and has a very nice cover on it that has never come off. I would keep it. It’s 7 layers of foam with cotton in between so that it can fold in half to make a couch. I spent so many trips going to the container store to get the most out of under the bed. I also have some wine boxes (I work in wine and they’re very fancy 😆) on the wall as simple cupboards. Above the wine boxes I figured out a cable system to go across the top which I used four bike panniers as my cabinets. They were easy to take with me or take out for more room. Everything in this tiny space is about making it not feel claustrophobic. It’s been painted white with at least three coats since the picture was taken and that really helps brighten it up and make it feel bigger. There’s also two murals: one that is North America and the other is a whale shape with a beach scene inside it. I was going to mark all the places I’ve been on the map, but decided I was gonna sell it by the time I was done so it’s free to mark up yourself! The battery system is bolted onto the wall and a box has been built around it. The batteries would be the number one thing for thieves and they’re not coming out easily. And for safety reasons. There’s plenty of room to work on it and the top has been purposely left off. I just kept my cutting board upside down on there as the top and it was more efficient storage. The batteries are huge and are AGM. So they can be stored on their side. Also they never have any battery acid fumes potentially leaking like normal deep cycles as they’re completely enclosed so way less dangerous. And less maintenance. The inverter is so big that it could run a microwave. It has plugs built right into it and I have all the accessories to make it a fully functional system. Fuse box, bus bar, the biggest cables possible so that it doesn’t lose any energy to the inverter. The arm rests were taken off to fit a dometic chest fridge/freezer perfectly in the front. It’s a good table and you can charge it from the car battery because it has a function to turn itself off before the battery is drained. It doesn’t come with one, but that’s what I’d put there. It comes with the good sunshades that retail for over $100 made for this specific van as well as good floor mats. A Vornado fan heater. There’s a knife magnet behind the door on of the electric system so they don’t go flying and are hidden for safety. It has new LED headlights that are super bright. Tires are relatively new, too. There’s a brand new dart board on the side door. If you open just the first door it’s perfect to play from the bumper as the line. I’ve made so many friends with that dart board. Custom made pillows that have magnets cover both back windows to completely black it out. And there’s also a custom made screen for the back doors that open in the middle with magnets and are so you can see out and they can’t see in. It isn’t installed yet, but just needs the buttons put on the van itself. I thought I’d let the buyer decide on that. This is such a great vehicle. It’s also one of the most common vehicles so you’re incognito like you’re just a worker. Parts are super cheap and available. The engine is big, but not too big. It gets decent gas mileage so it can be you’re daily driver. There have been multiple times I parked next to other vans and RV’s and everyone got a ticket but me because the cops thought it really was a work van. It’s got so much potential.
