Seller's Description
Our beloved Eurovan has been in the family for almost 20 years now and it's time to pass it on to another home. It is very functional as it stands (with some brake work) -- we camped in it most recently last fall and it spent part of the winter in NYC as tiny house for a friend who sells Xmas trees seasonally. We are selling for an exceptionally low price because it needs some work to bring it back to its glorious self. This is great opportunity to own a classic Eurovan camper for an excellent price. I will be adding more photos later once it cools off here (the pop-top, tables, etc). LOL If you are unfamiliar with the Eurovan campers, here are some basics: It's a very comfortable van to drive on the highway with decent gas mileage (about 20-22 mpg on average). Road clearance isn't great, so it's not the best van for off-road boon-docking although I've been successful at negotiating rocky roads with care. That said, it is short enough (6'6") to fit into public garages, etc. It has a 6-cylinder engine so there's plenty of power and windows all around for good visibility. The camper has a fridge that has 3 options: propane, shore power, and battery, a 2-burner propane stove, and central propane heat. There is also a sink with a faucet. The van has both gray and fresh water tanks as well as monitors for these, the propane, and battery charge. The pop-top is fiberglass and the upper bed can either be tucked away for plenty of head space or put down to accommodate 2 people. The bench seat in the back lowers to create another 2-person bed. There is a fold-out mattress that adds to the lower bed for comfort. The van has a ton of storage: under the bench seat, several cabinets along the kitchen side, a hanging closet and extra shelving in the back, and a "garage" in the back. There is a "shower" available in the back of the van -- a spray nozzle -- for rinsing off or a cold shower. Both front seats swivel to reverse and there are two removable table tops that can be combined for extra counter space or for use as a small or larger table. One of the advantages of a Eurovan is its small footprint but relatively roomy interior. Some details about this van: 1. Engine runs very well (replaced in 2015 with rebuilt engine) 2. New laminate flooring -- a huge improvement! 3. Entire propane system works well including the original refrigerator (!), stove, and central heating system 4. Pop-top and upholstery in excellent condition 5. Extra Captain's chair increases seating to 5 6. Heavy-duty exhaust system installed 7. Electrical system works well on battery (standard deep cycle) and shore power; charges well 8. All electric monitors working 9. NO mice ever!! (this is a common problem with many older vans) 10. Tires relatively new 11. Functional curtains all around (except the sliding door). 12. Bilstein shocks What needs work: 1. A recent inspection suggests brake work is needed for all 4 brakes 2. Some non-structural rust -- this should be taken care of ASAP to prevent it spreading 3. Although the propane tank is still working, it has exterior rust and should be replaced (GoWesty.com sells a replacement for about $800) 4. The "check engine" light is on when in use, and has been for years. I have had this checked and am told it only an issue with environmental compliance. As it is currently registered in Maine, that's not a problem. But it will need resolution in most western states. Cosmetic only: 1. Canvas on pop-top is discolored with a few small tears: new removable screens were installed last year 2. A few dings here and there 3. Minidisc system probably works. I just don't have any minidiscs. Very retro! 4. A few other minor quirks I can detail in a tour 5. It could use good detailing, especially the exterior. 6. Most windows have black-out film. One window needs it replaced. Popular upgrades available at GoWesty and elsewhere (not currently in this van): 1. Lithium battery system with plug-in solar to replace current deep cell. 2. My fridge works in all modes!! If it didn't, some folks replace the fridge with storage and use an electric cooler. Or it can be replaced with an electric truck fridge. AS his fridge works well with the propane, etc, I wouldn't replace it. It's fantastically convenient to have it on propane when off-grid. 3. A gas powered heater. Again......the propane heater works well as is. 4. Bluetooth connection to audio I'm happy to bring it in to a mechanic of your choice for a thorough inspection and to give video tours to serious inquiries. I'd like to sell this van before winter sets in as I no longer have winter storage options here in Maine. I have had this van both on the east coast and the west and have found that there are far more options for repair and maintenance on the west coast. Shipping to the west coast (Portland, OR) is $2000.
