Seller's Description
Early retirement and the pandemic led to a crazy idea - buy a new, empty cargo van, customize it to be sturdy, reliable and comfortable, then travel the country. After nearly four years of amazing trips, we’re ready to move on to our next adventure. Will consider serious offers; happy to provide virtual tour via FaceTime. The Van - Ram Promaster 1500 136” wheelbase high top, fits in a regular parking space! - Clean title, no dings no dents - Under 50K miles - Cooper Discoverer HT3 tires (installed January 2025) - 3.6L V6 24V VVT Engine - 6-speed Automatic 62TE Transmission - Speed Control - ParkSense® Rear Park-Assist System - Blind-Spot and Cross-Path Detection (wouldn’t drive without this feature!) - 4.5-Additional Gallons of Gas - Heated Power Folding Mirrors - Daytime Running Headlamps - Full-Speed Forward-Collision Warning Plus - Bright White Clear-Coat Exterior Paint - Black Interior Color We handcrafted this van with great care, researching every step and using high quality materials for optimal comfort and safety. .. Insulation, Framing & Floor Kilmat car sound deadening mat was installed throughout the cabin. Finished walls are quality Baltic birch plywood. Fully insulated with 3M Thinsulate and reflective barrier insulation. Factory installed 3/8” 7-ply subfloor. Luxury plank vinyl installed on top. Electrical A Bluetti AC200L (new March 2025) powers the van with both 12v and 120v (standard A/C outlets). A 12v Blue Sea System panel box connects to the Bluetti to charge lights, sink pump, MaxxAir fan, outlets, microwave, etc. Added bonus: when not traveling, the portable Bluetti can be used for outdoor projects or in the house. The Bluetti charges(quickly!) while driving via a Renogy 1000w inverter connected to the van’s alternator. It can also be charged via shore power and solar (see below). The van has ample lighting, outlets and charging ports. Solar Your purchase includes two portable Bluetti solar panels (used once). Wiring for future roof panels is installed and ready should you wish to add them. Sink/Water We created a simple and super functional sink system powered by a 12v pump. Two five-gallon Scepter BPA 5-gallon portable water storage containers are stored under the bed/dining bench; gray water runs into a 3-gallon tank under the sink. All tanks have easy-to-use “quick releases” making filling/emptying a breeze. While there’s no shower in the van, the 15”x17” undermount stainless steel sink includes a swivel faucet, allowing you to stand outside and shower off. Perfect after a hike or bike ride. Food Prep A 53-quart Alpicool dual temperature control 12v refrigerator/freezer chest is tucked under a cabinet; the top of the cabinet is made from plastic cutting board material proving the perfect food prep surface. A 700 watt microwave is in the cabinet above. An electric hot plate, stored below, is included. Counters and dining table are sealed butcher block. Sleeping / Dining A sturdy dining table is attached to a hydraulic stand making it easy to push it down and create the bed. The bench cushions (4”) become the bed. (We also store and use a 3” foam topper.) It takes about five minutes to switch between bed and dining mode. The passenger side seat swivels allowing it to face the van cabin. A pop-up counter extension acts as a comfortable work table while sitting here (especially nice when the slider door is open!). Heat A built-in Bison heater takes the chill off and is fueled via the van’s gas tank. It requires very little power and gas. Storage We intentionally did not install upper cabinets over the table/bed. Instead, you’ll find tons of storage inside the dining/bed benches and throughout the van. The floor under the dining/bed area is raised, creating a “basement” for storage bins (included). Behind the driver and passenger seats, a custom made “shoe box” holds multiple pairs - really convenient! Above the front seats, the Promaster “pizza oven” space remains open and is quite large. Next to the microwave cabinet is a large empty cabinet for dishes, toiletries, and more. Finally, above the sliding door is a small but handy storage box. We’ve been on the road for 5-6 weeks at a time and have never run out of storage space. Windows and Fans Motion Windows “T-sliders” provide cross ventilation and great views: one on each side (rear) and one on the sliding door. A Maxx Air Deluxe Fan with white lid is installed toward the front of the van roof. A small 12v fan hangs near the bed for extra circulation when needed. Key Fobs / Security We installed a security alarm and the ability to turn on the van from the key fobs. Toilet We’re happy to include our inexpensive but very convenient portable waterless toilet. It uses a bag system with PortaPotty chemicals and is stored away under the sink. Don’t knock it ‘til you try it! RockyMounts Bike Rack ($570 extra) BackStage 2" Receiver Swing Away platform hitch 2 bicycle rack. Allows full access to the rear of the vehicle with bikes on or off the rack. Currently retails for $770 on Amazon. Used about five times.
