Seller's Description
This 2002 VW Eurovan full camper is in great shape and has been well maintained over the years. The van is the full camper conversion that was done by Winnebago from 1997-2003. $34,000 OBO I have owned it for 12+ years. I have full maintenance and repair records going back to 2004. The mileage is 189,195, tires are in great shape, plenty of tread, recent alignment job. The pop top is original, but in great shape, all three screen panels have been recently replaced. Recently spent about $2K on starter motor replacement and coolant leak issue (new pipes and hoses) Alternator was replaced 3 summers ago. This van was run through DEQ in May and has new tags. The later model year Eurovans have good AC/heater systems, air bags, a front engine for protection with air bags. A powerful enough engine to pass as needed and freeway cruise all day at 70-75 MPH with ease. Comes with all VW and Winnebago manuals and extra keys. This van was fully inspected last April by my German specialty shop in Hillsboro. Some minor repairs were done and and the was deemed to in fine condition for my upcoming road trip. In May I completed a 5K mi road trip to UT,AZ,NM,CO,WY,ID. The van drove perfectly, so it is plenty road worthy for many more adventures in it's future. I just had the oil changed again, right after the 5K road trip. This van has had numerous upgrades done to it. Here is a partial list: 1. Transmission cooler installed 2. Gowesty lift kit with Bilstein shocks 3. Replaced original Norcold refrigerator with a marine all electric Vitrifrigo C601BD4 4. Installed a front light bar and rear back up lights (see pics) 5. Installed 3 auxiliary batteries (more amp hours ~250Ah ) 6. Van has a 600W microwave and a 1000W inverter installed 7. Wired for solar charging coach batteries, quality ZAMP charge controller 8. Custom wood work, added shelving and cubby cabinets. 9. Pop top and luggage rack were restored last summer and refinished with 4 coats marine top coat paint. (FYI the pop tops are made from ABS plastic and are prone to deteriorate and develop cracks from years of UV exposure, closely check what you purchase) 10. Full set of silver reflective window covers included 11. Replaced original Magnatek power convertor (120V to 12V) with Progressive Dynamics Intelligent model PD9245C. This unit provides cleaner sine wave energy, which is much easier on auxiliary batteries. 12. Air Lift rear shock pillows installed 13. Recent window seal replacements of galley window and driver side rear. Work done by Oregon Road Trip in PDX. The original seals(from Winnebego conversion) shrink up after 20+ yrs and allow water intrusion. 14. Fiama awning 15. Comes with front bra, in very nice condition (will post a pic soon) 16. Recent repair of the dreaded heater core AV/Heater air baffle foam in air vents issue that develops in all aging Eurovans. See link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYJSKO7ayxQ&t=251s Recent update 6/24/25: I took the van into my shop for an oil change. While there I had them run run the VCDS diagnostics test suite on the van, it includes about 10 tests different diagnostic tests. Everything came out clean, no issues. No trans-axle codes or issues/problems. The transmission runs fine. In addition they evaluated the timing chain condition. Mine had .5 degrees of stretch which indicates still in very good condition. For reference 4 degrees is watch out for troubles, 8 degrees is replace ASAP. So, this is a potential big $$ repair that you won't need to worry about. A few years back German Transaxle in Bend serviced the transmission and said it was in good condition. Some tech data on why the 2001-2003 Eurovans are the best model years: In 2001 the Eurovan model had some significant upgrades done to them. Among them are: - Engine Power: The 2001 EuroVan also received a significant engine upgrade, boasting a more powerful 201-horsepower V6 engine vs 140 HP in 1997-2000 models. This increased power likely necessitated the larger brakes for improved stopping capability. - Rear Brake Rotors: The 2001 and later models have a rear brake rotor diameter of 294mm, while the 1997-2000 models use a 280mm diameter rear rotor. - Front Brake Rotors: The 2001 models come with 313mm front rotors. It's likely that the front rotors were also smaller in the 2000 and earlier models, although some sources simply state the front rotor size for 1997-2000 as 280mm. - Wheels: This brake system upgrade in 2001 coincided with the move to 16-inch wheels on all 2001 and later Eurovans, compared to the 15-inch wheels on earlier models. Other Changes: Brake Wear Sensors: The 2000 model had one wear sensor on the left front wheel, while the 2001 and later models have a wear sensor on both front wheels.
