THE VAN ITSELF: a 2014 Ram Promaster 2500, Diesel, FWD/2WD, 111K* Miles Purchased by us (the second owners) with about 70k miles on it in January of 2021. TIRES: new as of August 24, 2024. New lug nuts as well! BATTERY: new as of July 2024. *ENGINE: Replaced (ENTIRELY) in the spring of 2022. Brand new engine only has ~11,000 miles on it and was assembled and installed by the official Dodge/Ram truck dealership in Fort Collins, CO. There is a 3 year/ 100,000mi warranty on it! TECH: Backup camera. Integrated bluetooth system in the cab. Great speakers up front. Comfortable and adjustable driver/passenger seats. MAINTENANCE: View the CarFax! Regular oil changes and close eye on maintenance. If you live locally in Fort Collins, we have a specific shop we can recommend to you that we’ve had a great experience with. Upkeep the DEF by topping it off every few hundred miles. This was the last model to have Fiat parts, when Dodge bought Ram, so you’ll see Mopar/Fiat accessories but all Dodge dealerships we’ve gone to have been able to work on this van. (Just be sure they can accommodate a high roof sprinter. This isn’t as much of an issue in CO, but was for us on the east coast.) THE LIL’ HOUSE INSIDE: INSULATION: Walls and ceiling insulated with rockwool, and cork underlayment beneath the flooring. WALLS: Real wood, with a fresh coat of paint in July, 2024. We’ll pass along the spare paint, too. FLOORS: Real, rich-colored hardwood flooring with normal signs of wear. It looks best when you polish it up with some simple hardwood cleaner every few weeks. SOLAR: Renogy fixed panels, 600 W. This has been plenty for us, especially when we’ve traveled to sunny destinations. Just be mindful of your energy use in overcast weather. On a normal sunny day, usually by noon we’d be back into the 100% charge zone! HOUSE BATTERY: Bluetti 2,000Wh Capacity portable inverter/battery. One benefit of this specific brand and system is you can buy add-on battery packs to expand your energy storage capacity. The kitchen faucet can be spun to the outdoors to take a sweet lil shower. 9-gallon gray water tank. It’s not mounted underneath so it won’t freeze quickly during the winter. BED: Don’t worry about making your bed every day. Just crank it up, carabiner it into place, and take it down when you’re ready to sleep. VENTILATION: MAXX Air Fan with 4 settings; draws little power, allows sunlight to enter, and is easy to operate. You can leave it open when it rains. FRIDGE: New as of August, 2024! 12V DC fridge/freezer. TOILET: Our approach has just been a simple bucket with a toilet seat and pine pellet cat litter. We’ve liked this version beyond all other iterations (including the fancier options, like a composting toilet).
