Seller's Description

It’s hard to say goodbye to a family member, but such is life and car ownership. We’ve owned this wonderful Westy for seven years—with 14 months of that time as full-time residents of her cozy confines, adventuring coast-to-coast. This is a highly modernized and modified van with a good balance of ready-to-go upgrades and necessary projects. See a list of upgrades and needs below. This van was originally sold in Alaska (and features a cool faded Alaska highway sticker to prove it). Purchased from a previous owner in Michigan, during our ownership this van has been registered in DC, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. It’s powered by a 2.5L Subaru engine that was originally installed in 2014. We completed a major engine service that included installing a brand-new engine block and new head gaskets in 2017 at 223k miles. Since that service, the engine has powered the van flawlessly with routine oil service. Easy starts, no cooling concerns, reliable power. The automatic transmission was fully rebuilt in 2018, about 9k miles ago. Likewise, since that service, the transmission has performed flawlessly. It’s an extremely mechanically-solid Vanagon. The van is structurally solid, but it is starting to show Vanagon-standard body rust and paint deterioration. It’s an adventure rig that’s seen many miles, after all. This Westy is a charismatic, humble, capable adventurer, and has brought our family invaluable joy. I hope it finds a new owner that will polish her up and point her nose down some winding road towards a campsite where you can watch the sunset and hear the coyotes.
