Seller's Description
Asking $39,500 OBO 2006 Dodge/Mercedes Sprinter 2500. Super High Ceiling; 158” wheelbase. Bertrude, or Bert the Flirt, is a 2006 Dodge Sprinter 2500 with 150,000 miles, also know as a T1N, “million-mile Sprinter”. We built her over the last two years, designing her to be a weekend getaway camper van with the capabilities to be a long term cross country adventure van. This Sprinter van is unique because the original owner ordered it from the factory with two slider doors! With that in mind we kept the slider with the large picture window as the usable door and ran the nine feet of countertops across the second slider. This makes for a nice backdrop while preparing food or a quick pass-through for your camper van cocktail party. Our goal with this van was to bring the comforts of home into the camping world. That means we have excellent ambient and mood lighting: two separate, dimmable zones of LED can lights and diffused lighting around the headboard. The pull out bed frame fits a queen sized mattress. The dinette seating area fits two people at a large 20” by 25” table. The dinette also features seat-back storage, under-seat storage on one side, and a pull-out Nature’s Head composting toilet on the other side (brand new, never used!). Under the bed is a pull out electric cooler fridge/freezer unit. (Brand new) Above that is an open storage drawer, designed to hold clothing and person effects. The Kitchen: Designed for foodies! 9’ of counter space means you have plenty of space to prepare your food. It also means you have lots of under cabinet storage and a full sized sink with running water. All drawers have locking latches for safe traveling. Utilities: The 25 gallon water tank is at the back of the van, sending water to the sink. The pump is turned on and off from a button at the sink. The expansion bladder allows for the pump to shut off automatically and save power and the life of the pump. The system is plumbed and ready for future expansion to have hot water and an outdoor shower with water supply from the tank. The electrical system was custom built to take living off grid to a new level using a 12VDC design. Featuring Renogy branded equipment, Bert has 200 amphours of LiFePo power charged by an MPPT controller. The controller regulates voltage from either the alternator (when the van is running) or the two 100 Watt solar panels located on the roof. The system is fully fused, protecting the equipment and you. It also features a 2000 watt inverter, feeding two outlets in the living space. There are also 120Volt outlets on the inverter itself. Using lights, utilities, and fridge/freezer consumes approximately 17% of the battery capacity per day without any passive charging from the solar panels or alternator. (With about 4 hrs of direct sunlight this number is reduced to about 13% daily usage). Battery monitor and alarm are located underneath the sink. Careful design went into the heating and ventilation system. A two stage diesel heater has been installed. She purrs with hardly a sound and no diesel smells come into the cabin. It is controlled by the panel located underneath the sink. It has been plumbed into the auxiliary fuel port on the van’s fuel tank. A Maxxair Deluxe fan has been installed over the bed. Intake or exhaust options make this van very comfortable. To aid in temperature and humidity regulation we used Havelock sheeps wool insulation. This is both good for the environment and you as it does not have harmful chemicals that off-gas. Mechanical: Bert is a well running machine. The van has been well maintained and since owning her I’ve done much work. To improve your driving experience the following features are included. 1. Rear view camera with large “mirror” screen. 2. Factory cruise control 3. Heated seats 4. Traction control 5. ABS brakes 6. Apple Carplay and Android auto double DIMM radio head unit. 7. Upgraded dash speakers. 8. Upgraded reverse light mounted on the roof of the van. The following mechanical work has been done. 1. New brakes and rotors on the front wheels, new brakes and drums on the rear 2. New parking brake shoes 3. New camshaft and crankshaft sensors. 4. Transmission fluid change and new filter. 5. Regular oil and filter changes. 6. New wiper blades 7. A/C works well and has been charged to spec. 8. All shocks have been replaced with after market heavy duty Bilstein shocks 9. Regular checks are made for the infamous “black death”, at no times have there been any evidence of leaking injectors. 10. New windshield 11. Checked and repaired all rust. Painted the entire van. 12. New headlights with LED bulbs and new tail lights. 13. New Mercedes style grill 14. Wheels have about 10K miles, many more to go! Cons: 1. She’s old, so she has some squeaks and rattles, none of which are of any serious concern. (We have used kilmat sheets to reduce vibration noise) 2. She has a few dents and dings from the previous owner. 3. The check engine light comes on from time to time. It’s due to a quirky glow plug module. This has NEVER resulted in any issues starting, even in the coldest NY temperatures. We respectfully ask for serious inquires only. Feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a time to come see her for yourself!
